Affilate Summit East 2012

Topics: Affiliate Marketing

One of my goals has been to make it to the Affiliate Summit East this year, and it’s happened. I think I’ve used the word excited at least one thousand times this week. So much, in fact, that I’m feeling the need to look in the thesaurus to find a better word, because I’m getting sick of it. I’m eager, enthused, enthralled, ecstatic, elated… why do these all start with e?

In the next few weeks leading up to the conference I want to make the most of it, connecting with people I would really like to meet at the conference, and making sure my website is ready for visits.  Jeremy Schoemaker has some great tips that I’m following at the conference. That includes buying drinks for some of the people I’ve mentioned before. Missy Ward, Shawn Collins, Tricia Meyer, Rae Hoffman-Dolan, Jeremy Schoemaker, you guys are totally getting drinks from me. I won’t follow you around afterwards thinking you’ll entertain me, and I won’t go blog about the amazing tips you share with me. (Because you’re going to, right?)

On a side note, I’ve been extremely impressed with these individuals and how they answer tweets and emails. Shawn Collins told me recently that there is no “cool kids club” in affiliate marketing, and I’m starting to see the truth in that. There’s just a lot of really cool people that are willing to advise and guide.

Not only am I very excited to attend the conference, I’m really pumped (ugh. that’s not a good word to replace excited) to go to New York. My husband and I took a trip there a few years ago, when we were newly married, and we fell in love with the city. Once I make it big, we’re moving there. The best part about all of this is that he’s coming with me. Having Dan with me makes any experience so much better, so I’m that much more… enlivened?

  1. It’s fun to see how excited you are for Affiliate Summit.

You can see a presentation I gave at Affiliate Summit West 2012 on how to make the most of the conference at http://www.affiliatesummit.com/first-timers-guide-for-affiliate-summit-west-2012/

I’ll be giving an updated version of it live to kick off the conference on the Sunday morning in NYC.

Make sure you hit up Shawn’s session, and don’t skip out on the parties (but, look at past year’s photos to see what you’re getting into). I recommend the ShareASale party and whatever Affiliate Summit puts together Monday night (Shawn – it’d better be Karaoke!!!). The lobby bar at the Hilton is the unofficial meet-up location on Saturday evening.

If you’re interested in going to St. Patrick’s for Mass on Sunday, let me know as I’ll be going. It’s amazing in there.

You can sleep later, because you’ll have to be up early for my 8am sessions (Monday & Tuesday).

Read up on Shawn’s post about not going to sessions, then Greg Hoffman’s post on why you SHOULD go to the sessions.

    See you in 2 months!

    • I plan on getting absolutely no sleep. I’ve already made Tricia promise to take me dancing with her, and I’ve seen the pictures! I can’t wait. I told her I love karaoke as long as I can share the mic with someone so I can pretend like it was them that was off-key. I can already picture us belting out “We are YOUNG! Heartache to heartache WE STAND”

I’ll be up and taking notes during your sessions. I’m going to have to bring at least four cups of coffee in with me though.

I would love to go to Mass. I’m not Catholic, but I think that would be a really incredible experience.

I read those two posts, and I get both of their points of view. If I have the chance to hang out with someone super knowledgeable (I told Shawn it’s like hanging out with celebrities for me) then I’m skipping out. Otherwise I want to absorb as much as I can at the sessions!

      Looking forward to meeting you!
